This is a photo taken on one
of my previous layouts about 10 years ago. Although the photo
doesn't show it very well, the cinder block wall has a small mural
painted on it. The cinder block wall has the purpose of keeping
the dirt and water outside of the basement. Even with a fancy
coat of paint on it, the wall does very little to enhance the
scene. A little off the point here. Ground texture has been applied
in this scene and for all pratical purposes, it looked good. What
if it were still bare ply wood (or that nasty shit that alot of
modelers swear by: Homasote). A computer and a graphics program
will save a lot of headaches... See below.

Here is the exact same photo with some neat stuff added. Some of the blury stuff removed, and by the way, it is raining..
