Final trackwork progress (well, almost final)
Last winter it was time to complete the entrance to the yard so in went the final bridge in the area..

The coaling tower is finally nearing completion....

The weekend of September 11, 2005 I decided it was time to fill that empty space in the layout room (basement) with track and buildings. After hours of laboring over a plan, came up with something that looked workable. The overall size is 10x2 feet.

The overall theme of this part of the layout is Alleys. That is, most of it is meant to be viewed looking between buildings. The exact location of the buildings is yet to be determined but overall the plan above shows the general location of the buildings placed so far (see below photos).. This is very much the industrial red light district of the layout. The hotels are somewhat run down, piles of trash have collected between the buildings, some of it's overgrown with weeds, you get the idea.. Kind of an industrial (1940s) slum.. When I get things more complete I'll take some better photos.. These are more for a working reference as to what it'll all look like..

Shown below is the crossing I had to build to accomidate this plan, the building of which pretty much sets the plan in stone.. It's complete now with the ties cut to proper length, the flangeways filed out, etc.. All that's left to do for the trackwork at the time of writing is to wire this stuff.

That's it for now.. I'll post more as I get them...
